Advocating for legislation that protect the rights of over 38 million patients with hearing losses in the U.S.

ABOUT DHC

Deaf Health Coalition (DHC) is a bi-partisan, not-for-profit organization bringing together leading disability rights organizations, government agencies, veteran groups, policy makers, researchers, and leading industry innovators to address issues that negatively impact the lives of over 38 million deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the U.S. These issues span health care, education, and technology. DHC and our partners are at the forefront of advocating for policies that improve the lives of individuals with hearing losses.

*DHC uses the term hearing losses in an all-inclusive manner, to include individuals who may identify as D/deaf, deaf-blind, deaf-disabled, hard of hearing, late-deafened, and/or hearing impaired.

No Patient Left Behind

Conversations among policymakers and thought leaders regarding current issues in healthcare, education, and technology often exclude the views of deaf and hard of hearing patients-- individuals, including veterans, with unique needs and who are 2-3x more likely compared to hearing individuals to suffer from chronic conditions and comorbidities that impact their quality of life. To help address this gap and bring a new voice to the table, DHC and our partners collaborate with leading disability rights organizations, patient advocacy groups, industry innovators, researchers, and academics to advance our current advocacy priorities.
